Thought to be native to the tropical regions of America, but has spread throughout the
world as an ornamental and shade tree. Parkinsonia is a Declared Plant in Queensland on a
water catchment basis to reflect the importance of flood waters as the main vector for the
spread of the weed. Controlled by biological methods, mechanical control or spraying.
