Detergent for use in automatic dishwashing machines.
"automatic dishwashing machine detergent powder"
Harmful if swallowed.
Contact with water liberates toxic gas.
Irritating to skin.
Accidental ingestion of the material may be harmful; animal experiments indicate that ingestion of less than 150 gram may be fatal or may produce serious damage to the health of the individual. Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments. Ingestion may result in nausea, abdominal irritation, pain and vomiting.
Although the material is not thought to be an irritant, direct contact with the eye may produce transient discomfort characterized by tearing or conjunctival redness (as with windburn).
This material can cause inflammation of the skin oncontact in some persons. Skin contact is not thought to have harmful health effects, however the material may still produce health damage following entry through wounds, lesions or abrasions. Solution of material in moisture on the skin, or perspiration, mayincrease irritant effects.
The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or irritation of the respiratory tract (as classified using animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable control measures be used in an occupational setting.
Principal routes of exposure are by accidental skin and eye contact andinhalation of generated dusts. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapor, mist or dust in work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice. Repeated contact with the powder may cause skin sensitivity reactions. Chlorine evolved from decomposition when wet is a respiratory irritant, corrosive and toxic. In enclosed areas inhalation of vapour may cause upper respiratory tract irritation, shortness of breath and headache.
