Severely toxic effects may result from the accidental ingestion of the material; animal experiments indicate that ingestion of less than 5 gram may be fatal or may produce serious damage to the health of the individual. Not normally a hazard due to physical form of product. Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments.
This material can cause eye irritation and damage in some persons. The liquid may produce eye discomfort causing smarting, pain and redness.
Not normally a hazard due to physical form of product. The material may cause skin irritation after prolonged or repeated exposure and may produce on contact skin redness, swelling, the production of vesicles, scaling and thickening of the skin.
There is some evidence to suggest that this material, if inhaled, can irritate the throat and lungs of some persons. Not normally a hazard due to physical form of product.
For pack contents: Chronic exposure may produce hypotension and fatigue. Chronic ingestion of 6-12 grams per day has produced gastritis, acidosis, isosmotic diuresis and nitrite toxicity manifested by methaemoglobinaemia or vasodilation. Prolonged skin contact may cause skin reactions and susceptibility to skin infections.
