Perfume used in cosmetics.
"fragrance compound", perfume, HW1601
May cause SENSITIZATION by skin contact.
Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments. Ingestion may result in nausea, pain, vomiting. Vomit entering the lungs by aspiration may cause potentially lethal chemical pneumonitis.
Although the liquid is not thought to be an irritant, direct contact with the eye may produce transient discomfort characterized by tearing or conjunctival redness (as with windburn). The vapor is discomforting.
Sensitization may result in allergic dermatitis responses includingrash, itching, hives or swelling of extremities. Open cuts, abraded or irritated skin should not be exposed to this material. Toxic effects may result from skin absorption.
Inhalation of high concentrations of gas/vapor causes lung irritation with coughing and nausea, central nervous depression with headache and dizziness, slowing of reflexes, fatigue and inco-ordination. Inhalation of vapor may aggravate a pre-existing respiratory condition. Not considered an irritant through normal use.
Principal routes of exposure are by accidental skin and eye contact and by inhalation of vapors especially at higher temperatures. Skin contact with the material is more likely to cause a sensitization reaction in some persons compared to the general population. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause drying with cracking, irritation and possible dermatitis following. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapor, mist or dust in work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice.
